Just 20 miles of south of Sheridan in Clearmont, The Ranch at Ucross is a guest ranch that will offer its guests a relaxing experience in a unique location.

The Ranch at UCross is situated in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountain Range, just a half day’s drive from the Black Hills and Yellowstone National Park, creating the perfect, relaxing getaway for experiencing Wyoming at its beautiful best.

The Ranch at UCross and the surrounding Buffalo landscape are rich in the history of the American West. Many Western writers, sculptors, artists, and craftsmen make this area home for exactly that reason. At the Ranch itself, you will find an array of things to do, along with gentle horses, beautiful scenery and big fish. The fun here is self-directed, as is relaxation for adults and kids. Ride horseback in scenic splendor, catch a big brown trout or rainbow trout in Piney Creek, relax by the heated outdoor pool, play a game of horseshoes, or tee off on one of three nearby courses.

The centerpiece of the resort is 31 cozy, elegant rooms, ranging from the Aspen Cabins and a historic, Victorian-style Ranch House built in 1902 to spacious, secluded rooms in the Pineys, the Cottonwoods, and the Hunting Lodge. All rooms at The Ranch at UCross offer an authentic sense of place, embracing their surroundings with majestic views of the surrounding Wyoming countryside.

There are a variety of different accommodations to choose from, each room sleeps between two and four people, with a choice of one king bed, two queen beds or a family room with one queen and a double-decker day bed. All rooms have a modern bath/shower combo. The ‘Piney Creek’ rooms have private balconies.

The ranch provides guided trail rides suitable for riders aged 5 and up, catering to both beginners and seasoned equestrians. These rides traverse the ranch’s 70-acre property and extend into the adjacent public lands, allowing guests to explore expansive landscapes and enjoy panoramic mountain views. The ranch emphasizes safety and comfort, with ranch hands supervising all rides to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all participants. The horses are well-trained and accustomed to riders of varying skill levels, making the activity accessible to novices and enjoyable for experienced riders alike.

Horseback riding is available from May through September, aligning with the ranch’s peak season for outdoor activities. This seasonal offering allows guests to take full advantage of the favorable weather conditions and the natural beauty of the surrounding area during these months.

Take on a range of activities at the Ranch including fishing, hunting and horseback riding. Relax by the outdoor heated pool or play a game of horseshoes, whatever your game there is something for you at the Ranch at Ucross. Guests may also choose to shop at the gift shop for handcrafted wood sculptures or enjoy a gourmet meal.
