The program includes other customizable options, like arena lessons, an obstacle course for younger guests, and dummy roping lessons done on foot.
With 6,600 acres to explore and miles of trails, there are always new adventures for all riding levels. Flat creekside trails are best for beginners while treks to peaks and rolling pine trails are enjoyed by intermediate to advanced riders. After you get fitted with boots, the wranglers ensure you are comfortable on a horse that matches your experience level. Each rider receives a comprehensive orientation on Western riding, safety and herd dynamics to prepare them for the trail, prior to departing for their horseback ride. The small group size ensures you are not riding nose-to-tail. There are opportunities for trotting and loping on all trails, contingent on rider ability and comfort level. Longer half and full-day rides are offered for intermediate and advanced riders when scheduled in advance.
Horseback riding lessons are offered in the arena and roping lessons are also available to guests of all ages often following a trail ride. Guests will first learn the basics of building a loop and practice roping on foot using a dummy-steer. Roping is also available during special events and lawn games, as well as during the Ranch Rodeo. If you would like to include roping lessons after your ride, ask your wrangler so that they can reserve some time at the end of your activity.

All guests receive a Specialized Roll comfort bike upon check-in for easy transportation between the Granite Lodge, the Rod & Gun Club and accommodations. All able guests are encouraged to walk or bike during their stay using the trails and pedestrian bridge over Rock Creek. Hike the Western hills through wildflower meadows to Mary Beth’s Peak and Top of the World. The trails along Rock Creek are ideal for a short stroll, while avid backpackers can appreciate The Ranch’s 20+ miles of trails as an advanced hiking resort.
