Blackwater Creek Ranch, Wyoming is an historic and scenic guest ranch located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, near the eastern gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Nestled along Blackwater Creek in the Shoshone National Forest, the ranch offers visitors an authentic Western experience with breathtaking views, abundant wildlife, and outdoor activities.
Blackwater Creek Ranch is located within Shoshone National Forest, the first of its kind in the U.S. You can hike and ride the trails surrounding the ranch with creek crossings, mountainous terrain and unbelievable vistas. Just 15 miles from Yellowstone, you can also explore America’s First National Park on a tour from the ranch.
Their season is end of May to end of September and they offer 3 or 6 night stays. The 6 night stays include complimentary airport transfers from Cody (they are an extra charge for 3 night stays).
Enjoy great riding for all ages and abilities. After the trails, take a dip in Blackwater Creek Ranch’s outdoor pool, located just outside the main lodge. Relax in the bar, located inside the main lodge with ample seating to enjoy a cold drink or a round of cards with your friends and family or head to the Rumpus room which is their historic rec room includes game tables and board games for your enjoyment during your dude ranch holiday.
Stay in one of the historic log cabins, built between 1915 and the 1950s, or the large Ranch House.
Cabins – The ranch’s historic log cabins are nestled in a grove of tall trees, nearby the murmuring waters of the Shoshone River and Blackwater Creek. Each cabin has its own bathroom and some have multiple bedrooms. They’re furnished with cozy bedding, Navajo rugs and western appointments.
Ranch House – This is a two-bedroom, one-bathroom house with a living room, full kitchen and laundry facilities. Both bedrooms have the option of a single King or two Twin beds. The living room has a gas fireplace and an additional Queen-sized pull-out couch.
Memorable riding experiences await in the spectacular Absaroka Mountains and Shoshone National Forest. The wranglers will match you with a horse appropriate to your experience level and lead you on scenic rides along mountain trails to scenic vistas, along the Shoshone River and through Blackwater Creek as you explore the scenery in Yellowstone Country.
Your backyard is in the Shoshone National Forest, and there is access to spectacular and varied riding trails with mountainous terrain, creek crossings, open meadows and forested hills all promising stunning views.

Horseback riding in the Wyoming wilderness, archery, hiking; plus off-ranch excursions. You’ll have access to fish the local waterways: the Shoshone River and Blackwater Creek.
You’ll also have opportunities to experience America’s First National Park and First National Forest, as well as the cowboy town of Cody, Wyoming.
