Amangiri | Canyon Point, Utah

Amangiri, which means ‘peaceful mountain’, is located in Southern Utah. This luxury resort is nestled in a protected valley with amazing views towards the Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument. The resort is a short drive from the nearest town of Page, Arizona and an even shorter drive to the shores of Lake Powell.

The resort has been architecturally designed to blend into the landscape with natural hues, materials and textures all sympathetic to the beautiful surroundings. Everything has been designed to provide an intimate setting from which to view and appreciate the landscape.

At the centre of the resort is the Pavilion, with dramatic views of rock formations and the swimming pool to one side and panoramic vistas to the other. The swimming pool is set within a sunken courtyard and wraps around the rock to finish with a hot tub that sits at the base of a rock wall. Around the pool is the lounging terrace where you will find daybeds that appear to float on water!. Next to the hot tub is the campfire pavilion which is an inviting nook for lounging and relaxing.

The spa at Amangiri typifies the luxury to be found at this special resort. It covers 25,000 square feet and provides a serene setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. The entrance itself is reminiscent of nearby rock canyons and takes you into a reception and peaceful lounge area featuring a glass tiled, sky-lit reflection pool and a central fireplace. A key feature of the spa is the Water Pavilion where large wooden doors pivot to reveal an outside area containing a stone-lined step pool with magnificent desert views. Cushioned seating is found on a terrace rising on three sides to blend with the rock face. Refreshingly cool in summer, the pool is heated in winter. You can also make use of the steam room, dry sauna and cold plunge pool beyond the reception area.

Rooms

Two accommodation wings lead from the Pavilion into the desert. There are 34 suites in total. All suites offer air-conditioning for summer and under-floor heating for the cooler months. Entry to each suite is via a private courtyard. There is a glass wall with a central door opening in to a combined bedroom and living area which includes a writing desk and a king-sized bed. Beyond there is a sitting area with a sofa, coffee table, reading chairs , a side table, a television and combined CD/DVD player. Then there is a spacious lounge with resting mattresses and a central fireplace. There is also a dressing room, a separate toilet room and a spacious bathroom with twin rain showers and a comfortable soaking tub with uninterrupted views. A few of the suites have private swimming pools.

New York to Toronto – 2015 (Smith)

I have just returned from a tailor made holiday made possible by Jeannette Dembrey. This was the first time I had ever organised such a major holiday and as it was a gift for my children after my retirement it was really important to get things right. I went to quite a few agencies but Jeannette was way better than any of the people who I spoke to. She was so professional and wanted me to get the best from the money I could afford. The holiday was absolutely amazing and everything went like clockwork. Jeannette had thought of everything even the connections between places and the things we would do in each town. We stayed in 6 hotels altogether starting in New York and ending in Toronto. I am amazed at how smoothly it went. Even my son who has travelled all over the world was impressed with the way things had been organised. I cannot praise Jeannette enough for her professionalism. Thank you Jeannette. I would recommend you to anyone with the satisfaction of knowing that you did an amazing job. Thank you.
