Winter Escape
Fancy getting away from the dark days of winter and into some excitement and warmth? If so, this is the holiday for you. Over 15 nights, you journey from the bright lights of Las Vegas into the warm and varied landscapes of Arizona. It begins with three nights in Vegas, where you’ll explore the Strip, take in shows, shop, dine and soak up the city’s energy. Then you drive about four hours to the Grand Canyon area, visiting Hoover Dam on the way, enjoying guided walks (including down the South Kaibab Trail) and learning about its geology and history. From the Canyon you spend a night in Flagstaff, a historic Route 66 town known for its dark skies (great for stargazing), local culture and a relaxed mountain town vibe.
Next, you head on to Sedona for two nights: expect striking red-rock scenery, pine forests, an artsy feel, desert panoramas and outdoor adventures (jeep tours, hot air balloon rides etc.). After that, you settle into Scottsdale for three nights of resort luxury, hiking chances, Old Town charm, and plenty of ways to unwind. The trip concludes with four nights at a ranch near Tucson (or optionally a more upscale ranch), where activities, meals and transfers are included, offering a chance to relax, enjoy nature, and soak up the sun before returning home.

Collect your car today for the 4-hour drive to Grand Canyon. On the way, do stop in at the Hoover Dam Bridge. You will find that both Hoover Dam and the Canyon will be fairly quiet as the cooler temperatures keep the crowds away. You will definitely need some warm clothes for this part of the journey. Day time temperatures are in the 10-15 degrees Centigrade but it gets cold at night and you can expect some snow on the ground in the Canyon.
Your holiday includes a full-day small group tour around the Canyon which will allow you to see the best of the Canyon with a well-informed guide. You will be collected
from your hotel Once in the park, you’ll get your first look at the canyon from Mather Point. Here, you’ll witness the morning light as it plays across the canyon in a variety of colours and shadows. Next, you’ll embark on the hike of a lifetime down the South Kaibab Trail to Ooh Ahh Point. This overlook into the canyon provides an uninhibited view within the canyon – a stunning backdrop for family photos and selfies alike. After lunch, you will visit one of the many museums along the rim – the Yavapai Geology Museum, Kolb Studio, or the Bright Angel History Room. Each of these museums are situated right off the south rim and offer one last view of the canyon before departure. This tour experience falls between easy and moderate. The tours are taken by individuals and families of all ages, skill levels, and fitness abilities. You’ll hike a total distance of 2 miles and 800ft of elevation change on the trail. You may also walk an additional 1-2 miles spread between short, paved walks to viewpoints, museum stops, etc. If you are not comfortable with this, please let us know and we will find an alternative tour for you.

The city became the worlds first International Dark Sky City back in 2001, the Lowell Observatory is here from where many discoveries, including Pluto, have been made. Spend some time in the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, the Sanctuary Resort on Camelback Mountain or the Four Seasons just to name a few of the splendid resorts in the town. If you can tear your selves away from your hotel, grab a bike or go hiking in the McDowell Mountain foothills, stroll around the Old Town or take one of the many tours on offer such as river rafting, horse riding and canoeing.
