Seattle, Puget Sound and San Juan Islands
A unique opportunity to sail from Seattle into the enchanting San Juan Islands, through the stunning Puget Sound with a stop in Canada to see the renowned Butchart Gardens of Victoria and Port Angeles for a day trip into Olympic National Park.
This voyage will introduce you to the excitements of kayaking in glacial fjords and amongst the San Juan archipelago, hiking in the Olympic Mountains, discovering the native cultures of the Pacific Northwest and time to enjoy watching gray whales, eagles, orca and other sea life all surrounded by some of the most jaw-dropping scenery you are ever likely to see.

The Ships
You will have a choice of three ships operated by American Cruise Lines Ranging from the 170 passenger American Constellation and American Constitution or the small 90 guest American Spirit. All are designed for the sort of small ports you will be calling into: many of the cabins have their own private balcony; those that don’t have large picture windows that open. On board you will have historians and local expert guides who will talk about the cultural influences of both the Norwegian and Suquamish tribe, the local flora and fauna and almost anything else you want to talk to them about.

After breakfast in the Four Seasons, you will be collected for a Seattle tour which brings you all the city’s highlights including downtown and the famous Pike Place Market and will finish at your ship in  Fisherman’s Terminal from where you will sail into the majestic waters of Puget Sound which will set the scene for the days to come. Anacortes is a picturesque waterfront town on Fidalgo Island. This vibrant coastal community is home to one of the world’s largest whale watching fleets, as well as Deception Pass, one of the most photographed places in the Northwest.
More than 50 miles of trails run through Anacortes and Fidalgo Island, where you can enjoy views of Mount Erie, four fresh-water lakes, old growth forest, and a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles. Explore the downtown, just a few steps from the dock, and peruse its sophisticated boutiques, art galleries, and antique shops. As well as the complimentary guided tours of Anacortes there is a guided hiking adventure and a Jet Boat tour through Deception Pass.

Friday Harbor is a charming town with a rich history and an abundance of character. Small enough to walk from one end to the other, this secluded coastal fishing village is adorned with historic storefronts, picturesque turn-of-the-century houses, and Coast Salish native carvings.
Explore Friday Harbor’s diverse topography, from pebbly beaches to magnificent mountains and lush valleys. Stroll through the historic district and witness the local population of whales from the Port of Friday Harbor. At the Whale Museum, learn about Spirit, the orca whale American Cruise Lines adopted during its first season on the Puget Sound. Here you will have the chance to have a guided kayak trip in Griffin Bay with its backdrop of Mount Baker, the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges. If you would rather have someone else do the hard work, you can also join a Nature and Wildlife cruise which will give you an excellent chance to get up close and personal with the orca who live in this area, listen to them, humpback, minke and grey whales on the hydrophones.
