to Yosemite National Park
Collect your hire care and head east to Yosemite National Park, a vast area of craggy mountains, lakes, waterfalls and some of the oldest trees in the world. It is a paradise for the photographer, adventurer and anyone who loves natural beauty. Do visit the Giant Sequoia National Forest where you will discover General Sherman, a tree which at about 2700 years old is thought to be the oldest living thing in the world. Depending on the age of your children, you might like to take them on a rafting trip on the Merced River Canyon, horse-riding in Mariposa County, bike riding, hiking or rock climbing. The park authorities have done a fantastic job of creating easily walkable trails to all the major highlights such as the Yosemite Falls and Mirror Lake/Meadow. A moonlight hike is also a memorable experience as the light pollution is non-existent and the stars are an amazing sight.

Time to leave the lush coast of Los Angeles and head inland to the desert (if you only have 2 weeks you can either miss Palm Springs or fly home from there)
You will drive along the San Bernadino Valley and up into the desert. On the way you might want to stop at the Cabazon outlet mall from where it is only 30 minutes into Palm Springs. Palm Springs has a number of interesting things to do and see. The Living Desert is a remarkable zoo and botanical garden representing the desert environments of North America and Africa, you can also take a Hummer or an open top Jeep into the desert, rent some mountain bikes or explore Joshua Tree National Park about an hour away. It will be hot so you will also want to spend some time around the hotel pools.
TIP. Leave well after the rush hour, getting out of town can be very slow.

Wind your way through the Palomar Mountains back to the coast of California where you can stay either at La Jolla, San Diego or on the island of Coronado.
Aside from some serious beach time, there are plenty of activities in San Diego such as the world-famous zoo, SeaWorld and a Legoland. Away from the modern amusement parks, the USS Midway Museum is a real naval aircraft carrier that served in the United States Navy for 47 years. Large and very impressive, you can actually climb aboard and sit in some of the jets’ cockpits.

J Smith - Travelled New York to Toronto
I have just returned from a tailor made holiday made possible by Jeannette Dembrey. This was the first time I had ever organised such a major holiday and as it was a gift for my children after my retirement it was really important to get things right. I went to quite a few agencies but Jeannette was way better than any of the people who I spoke to. She was so professional and wanted me to get the best from the money I could afford. The holiday was absolutely amazing and everything went like clockwork. Jeannette had thought of everything even the connections between places and the things we would do in each town. We stayed in 6 hotels altogether starting in New York and ending in Toronto. I am amazed at how smoothly it went. Even my son who has travelled all over the world was impressed with the way things had been organised. I cannot praise Jeannette enough for her professionalism. Thank you Jeannette. I would recommend you to anyone with the satisfaction of knowing that you did an amazing job. Thank you.
