Fly into Austin on the direct flight from Heathrow and begin your holiday with a few nights here. The State capital building sits in the heart of city surrounded by lush grounds, it’s certainly worth taking one of the free self-guided tours that last approx. 30 minutes, before heading just a few blocks south to bustling downtown lined with bars and restaurants to try, plus enjoy endless choice of live music. Lady Bird Lake runs through the middle of the city, we suggest you head to Congress Bridge at sunset to witness the incredible nightly scene of 1.5 million bats flying off in search of supper.

As you approach Johnson City and follow the Hwy 290 known as the wine trails why not stop off and try some of the best wineries in Texas, they run all the way along the highway to the quaint town of Fredericksburg. Once here visit the National Museum of Pacific war and the Pioneer Museum and take a trip to Luckenbach, a mecca for music fans made famous by musicians like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson

For all you budding cowboys and girls out there is time to head to one of the numerous ranches in the Bandera area for a few days of Texan hospitality. Stay in authentic and historic ranching accommodation, ride your horse to breakfast, experience incredible food, country music and ensure you visit the awesome town of Bandera for all the cowboy gear you’ll ever need. Most of the ranches in the area have between a 3 – 5 night minimum stay.

On leaving Bandera, head east to San Antonio a vibrant city that keeps drawing you back in. No trip is complete without a trip to the historic Alamo, but the Mission trails takes in 4 UNSECO World Heritage Site, you can drive but we suggest the bike trails. You can also marvel at the rock formations in the Natural Bridge Caverns. Spend your days or evenings at “River Walk “ just like Venice’s Canals dotted with bars, restaurants and music venues and ensure you stop in the numerous Spanish Tapas bars for Tortilla Espanola, Gambas Al Ajillo and Croquetas.
