Days 1-2

Dallas/Grapevine

A direct 10-hour flight from London will bring you to this vibrant and diverse metropolis. We recommend basing yourself just 10 minutes from Dallas Fortworth Airport in Grapevine — the perfect location for exploring the wider area. Both downtown Dallas and Fort Worth are less than a 30-minute drive away, and Grapevine offers an excellent selection of comfortable, luxurious hotels and family-friendly resorts to make your stay easy and enjoyable.

Grapevine’s charming, walkable Main Street is lined with boutique gift shops, excellent restaurants, wine-tasting rooms, and craft breweries. On weekends, the historic Grapevine Vintage Railroad — dating back to the 1920s — runs to the Fort Worth Stockyards, offering a memorable experience. The nearby tax-free shopping mall is home to Legoland Discovery Center, Peppa Pig World, and Meow Wolf. Don’t miss a stop at The Western Outfitter to pick up an authentic cowboy hat and boots!

A trip downtown to the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza offers a powerful look back at the assassination of JFK, while the Bishop Arts District is a must-visit for its eclectic vibe. On Saturdays, catch the house band at Revelers Hall — they’re fantastic.

Days 3-5

Dallas/Grapevine to Wildcatter Ranch

So now you’ve seen how its done in Texas its time to head west for a few days at Wildcatter Ranch . Meet the real cowboys who guide you through the horseback trails, cattle drives and lasso lessons. Unwind in this upscale accommodation with fabulous scenic views and enjoy the steak restaurants as you’ve never before. The ranch is all about sustainability and working in partnership with the land and animals not to mention a fun few days.

Days 6-7

Wildcatter Ranch to Fredericksburg

On departure day, instead of heading down the highway take the slower 280 down through the countryside into Fredericksburg, a super quaint town full of lovely boutique shops and vineyards and enjoy the wide-open spaces.

2 nights Fredericksburg

Days 8-9

Fredericksburg to San Antonio

Continue on with your Texan fly drive to the eclectic city on the river of San Antonio. Visit the Alamo which is free but requires on line reservations and explore River Walk , don’t be afraid to rent bikes, the 2.5 miles ride is gorgeous.

2 nights San Antonio

Days 10-11

San Antonio to Houston

On leaving San Antonio take the 183 South east to Houston, the journey is only 3 hours but we recommend stopping in Gonzales, the site of the first battle of the Texas Revolution, and an hour further along Goliad State Park and white walls of Mission Espiritu Santo built in 1722. You’ll be ready for lunch when you arrive at Houston which is great as this is an exciting place to eat from Sushi, Tapas, Tacos or Curry

Days 12-14

Houston to Galveston

End your trip with a few days on the beach on the island of Galveston. If you love seafood its fresh of the boat here. The Black Pearl Oyster Bar offers Oysters, Cajun boiled shrimp and seafood gumbo to dine as the locals do and if seafood’s not your thing grab a burger and a craft bear at Bews Brothers and enjoy a cocktail on the roof top patio at Tremont House with panoramic view across the harbour and Stewart Beach and the historic pleasure wheel. Stroll along The Strand, body surf in the gulfs warm waters. Go dolphin watching in the harbour or take a trip to Galveston State Park for a days kayaking, fishing in the salt marshes or just relaxing on the beach chairs.

Galveston to Houston

On departure its just a short hour-long drive to Houston for your direct flight back to Heathrow.
