Washington Wine Country

Washington Wine Country grows 99% of the state’s wine grapes and the state as a whole now has over 1,000 wineries. Washington wines are receiving wide critical acclaim from around the world frequently scoring over 90 marks for their consistent high quality.

The three main areas are the Yamima Valley, the Walla Walla Valley and the Tri-Cities Regions which are on the same latitude as some of France’s greatest wine producing areas. You can stop and taste at any number of wineries which vary from the small boutique, privately owned vineyards such as the Cultura Winery to the biggest in the Yakima Valley – the Silver Lake. Many grape varieties are grown in the area but among the best would probably be the Merlot and Syrah.

Away from the vineyards, follow the Yakima River as it carves its way from Yakima to Ellensburg to see the 2000 feet high basalt cliffs and have a chance to photograph some bald eagles.
