“New York, New York, (so good they named it twice)” What better city for a weekend break or as a starting point for a fly-drive holiday into New England or the East Coast of the US? New York City has it all! Great hotels, serious shopping, marvellous museums and a vibe that other cities can only dream of and all easily accessible from the UK.

New York is a city of contrasts. Be sure to visit the bright lights of Times Square as well as the green spaces of Central Park in Manhattan and you will need to see the skyline so a visit to the top of the Empire State Building is a must. Head over the bridge to Brooklyn – where you can get some of the best New York-style pizza –  to get the best views of downtown Manhattan in Brooklyn Heights or take the ferry from Lower Manhattan to Staten Island and head to the sandy neighbourhoods of South Beach and Midland Beach, via a 2.5-mile boardwalk.

Well known names such as Macy’s and Bloomingdales rub shoulders with countless stores, boutiques, designer showrooms and pop-up shops, New York City is THE place to shop.

Music of all genres happens in New York in such diverse venues as world famous concert halls such as Carnegie Hall to the hottest new bands at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Or enjoy a show on Broadway for a real taste of New York culture.

I have just returned from a tailor made holiday made possible by Jeannette Dembrey. This was the first time I had ever organised such a major holiday and as it was a gift for my children after my retirement it was really important to get things right. I went to quite a few agencies but Jeannette was way better than any of the people who I spoke to. She was so professional and wanted me to get the best from the money I could afford. The holiday was absolutely amazing and everything went like clockwork. Jeannette had thought of everything even the connections between places and the things we would do in each town. We stayed in 6 hotels altogether starting in New York and ending in Toronto. I am amazed at how smoothly it went. Even my son who has travelled all over the world was impressed with the way things had been organised. I cannot praise Jeannette enough for her professionalism. Thank you Jeannette.
