Marthas Vineyard

Only 5 miles offshore, a 45-minute ferry ride from Cape Cod, this upmarket retreat is popular with film stars and politicians alike. The combination of pristine sandy beaches , beautiful sailboats, brightly painted gingerbread cottages, lighthouses at sunset and the local farmer’s markets are reasons for anyone to visit.

Add in Elegant Edgartown with its 19th-century mansions built by sea captains, the Flying Horses Carousel, one of the country’s oldest (1876) in Oak Bluffs and the stunning sunsets; the best place to watch is the Gay Head Lighthouse on the Aquinnah Cliffs.

Please accept my thanks for organising our trip to New England etc. All arrangements worked exactly as arranged and we were particularly pleased with the standard of hotels used.
The itinerary too was good and we loved Kennebunkport, Stowe and Jackson. We were well looked after in all locations, although slightly less so at Von Trapp hotel that was less personal because of their size, but the experience itself was welcome.
