The Lonesome Spur Ranch is nestled in the foothills of the Beartooth and Pryor Mountains. Here you will be taught to ride Western style and be given the confidence to be safe and secure.

Experience an authentic Montana Working Guest Ranch. Escape to the foothills of the Beartooth and Pryor Mountains at Lonesome Spur Ranch in Bridger, Montana. Family-owned and operated for five generations, this working guest ranch welcomes travelers of all riding levels to immerse themselves in true cowboy life—from saddling up at sunrise to swapping stories around the campfire.

A very friendly family ranch suitable for everyone. They cater for to all abilities and horses will be chosen to match your experience, and you may change horses during your stay.

Rides can last between 4 to 6 hours and may include early rising if they are branding or gathering cattle. Hearty meals are served family style at the cookhouse.

The lodging on the ranch is varied, rustic and decorated in the western theme with log furniture.
All the ranch accommodations have air conditioning, heating and a refrigerator provided. Coffee-makers, hairdryers and complimentary snacks are also provided in each room for our guests on arrival.

THE BUNKHOUSE has three rooms, each with a private bathroom and again decorated in western theme. Guests have a shared sitting room/ kitchen area with laundry facilities in the Bunk House.

The CABINS are rustic with one queen bed and some with an extra single bed.  Some of the cabins have an external private restroom/shower.

Guests will actually work with cattle—gathering, moving, sorting, and even branding, depending on the time of year. In addition to working cattle, a sample itinerary will also include scenic trail rides through wide-open Montana landscapes, roping lessons, barrel racing, ranch rides, and even lively local pig races—offering guests a full immersion in the Western way of life.

Guests enjoy hearty, home-cooked meals served family-style in the cookhouse and lodging in rustic yet comfortable cabins that reflect the authentic spirit of the West. Transfers from Billings Airport are available.

With small group sizes, personalized horse matching, and a strong focus on safety and authenticity, Lonesome Spur offers a true Montana ranch experience. It’s the kind of adventure dreams are made of—where unforgettable memories are created and cherished for a lifetime.

Will mainly riding focused, the ranch does offer some off-ranch excursions including visits to the Little Bighorn Battlefield, the Pryor Mountain wild mustangs, the Crow Nation museum and the Cody Nite Rodeo.
